Again on InstallOffGridSolarSystem.com we bring out a review of yet another solar product used in our solar budgets. This time a AIMS inverter review. Remember this products have their own roles in the solar system and if you changed on, you would be forced to change a lot more others in your system.
So for me to come up with them I have done my maths and found a particular component suitable for the particular solar budget. For instance we are about to review an inverter I used in our $7,000 budget and it fits there just fine.
What are the reasons behind me choosing this inverter for our system? what does it do that others can´t do? How much does it cost? Am about to answer all those questions
Let´s go to the review!
Product: AIMS Power (PWRINV500048W) 5000W 48V Inverter
Price: $549
Cheapest Place to buy: amazon.com
Power rating: 5000 watts
Item model number: PWRINV500048W
My ratings: 9.8/10
Product description
This,PWRINV500048W, is a top selling model of AIMS 5000 watt modified sine wave inverter, it shares a lot of similarities with 48 volts dc battery bank(several batteries connected in parallel or series). This relationship with 48 volts dc battery bank is because of it´s nominal voltage of 48 volts too.
This products has capability of monitoring the battery status and overall consumption status. A voltmeter and an amperage gauge located at the front unit of this product reads and indicates significant information about the battery bank charge and the consumption of the load.
The inverter also offers direct consumption for components which need to draw more than 1500 watts from our battery banks. It does this by offering a direct terminal to hard wire components to utilize full capacity.

Do’s
- Connect the product correctly to a 48 volts battery bank
- install the inverter in dust free areas
- always blow the inverter using blows to reduce dust accumulation in the fan
- for any warning lights or indicators switch off the inverter first
- use collect size of cables for your inverter from battery to avoid heat
- install your inverter in a cool room
Dont’s
- never attempt repairing your inverter when still the warrant is valid
- always disconnect the inverter while plugging in the load
- never try touching the battery input due to shock
- don’t overload the inverter with a lot of loads
This are just but a few pints that i say they were relevant about the inverter we are talking about. This type of product should be handled with a lot of care and precaution. Our inverter is used to draw energy from the 48 volt dc battery bank and steps it up to 230 volts. Generally our product is also a transform.
Conclusion
This inverter having a 48 volts nominal voltage and 5000 watts power rating, I can say it has a very fair competitive price. The price considering the size and over all cost of the system is very fair.
The reason i choose to use this inverter mainly its because of it nominal voltage. When a solar system becomes big such as $10,000 budget system, sizing for a 12 volts solar system becomes a head ache.
So our product fitted in just fine because that what the system needed. And another reason I choose this component is because of it´s power rating. I need an inverter that will drive a 5000 watts loads and that´s where our PWRINV500048W came in for it.
Hope you found this AIMS inverter review to be helpful and now you should have a better understanding about if it is something for you or not. As always if you got any questions I will be more than happy to anser them in the comment section below!
